3D artwork is more than just a hobby for me. It is my passion, and it always has been. It is the way
I feel inside...I see in colors, textures, patterns, placement and in spacial relationships. I really enjoy the
process of creation and the imagination I use in the process. It's almost like dreaming that I am there and that
I am creating in live person as a designer would.
I have dabbled in many forms of art...oils, acrylics, watercolors, pastels, charcoal, pencil and pen and 2D artwork(for
several years now). But I have only recently begun the quest of doing 3D artwork. Now within a few months I have
found a new passion.
I am having a lot of fun with Daz 3D Studio...It really has a lot of potential. I wish it could do more like Poser.
I am learning Poser but finding the interface difficult and not user friendly. It has it's pros though. You really
have to do tutorials and I don't like them....mostly because I don't have tons of time due to real life.
I am currently experimenting with Hexagon 2 and having some success with it. I was playing with Rhino which had
a much faster learning curve but wow the price...ouch. Don't know about that one.
I really like Hexagon and after a while I should be able to get it down. And put some of my drawings of places,
clothing, costumes, accessories and characters into poser format.
Two other options for 3D modeling are Metasequoia and Blender 3D which are both free as far as I know. Blender
3D was fun to use although a little difficult at first and Metasequoia I am not sure on yet as I just downloaded it for free
somewhere. I will post the links if I can find them on my
Links page.
I think I am having the best luck with Hexagon.
I also really like the N-sided Quidam program. I want to use it more and more. It is as expensive as poser
but I am so tempted to buy it! I REALLY want to design gaming characters with it! I have added a gaming characters
section for all my practice characters.
My new quest is to create some beautiful
nudes. I just want to show off the capabilities of the 3D artist in creating beautiful life like creations. I really
enjoy using some of my photo realistic models that I have gotten from renderosity. They provide realism to the models.
Sometimes you can't tell the model is not real. It is amazing and I am noticing more and more mesh models being used
in commercials on television and in movies.
I have posted lots of tubes and backgrounds also at my yahoo group "My Royalty Free Tubes N Photos". Feel free
to join up and I will mail you when new tubes are posted. A repository of tubes is available at the group site.
You must be a Yahoo member of course which is free if you aren't already signed up with them. Here is the link to my
group:
If you are wanting tubes I will soon be posting them at this site instead of my yahoo group so hang tight as I get some
time to post them up.
If you are interested in starting out in the 3D world check out the four banners at the bottom of this page. Daz3d,
Poser are the premier 3D content creators and Renderosity, 3D Commune and Runtime DNA are two of the additional premier
communities for artists. Check my links below for access to Daz 3D Productions. Check my
Links page for access to tons of free and purchasable software and content to get you going.
I have just posted several tutorials to get you newbies up and running in the 3D world. I will be posting more
tutorials as I have time.
If you are interested in making terrains or backgrounds for your rendering pleasure be sure to check out Bryce,
Vue, Mojoworld and Terragen or Terragen 2 which all have demos and free options.
If you like more extensive 3D modeling you can look into Daz 3d's Hexagon, Cinema 3D/4D, Rhiino, Maya, Z brush and
I-Clone.
I have been busy uploading lots of freebies. I hope they help someone out. I appreciate all the freebies
so they are my present back to the world of 3D Modeling...
